Queenstown Road

This one started as a neglected dog of a bedsit flat, and ended up a real stunner. The owner bought the flat primarily for it's location near battersea bridge and it's roof terrace overlooking everyone's favourite power station. Inside however, it was a mess. Office carpet, chip-paper walls, upstairs kitchen and dingy entrance.

The budget was small, so we had to work precisely. Moving just one wall, gave us an open plan living area and a grand entry, but also meant we could turn a one bed into a two bed. Concealing the bedroom storage behind sliding panels was cost-effective, but gives the bedrooms unexpected elegance.

The flat abounds with thoughtful but inexpensive details most conversions leave out; A concrete counter-top, concealed coat-store, dramatic black stairs, and many others. the overall effect is a sense of comfortable luxury that is much greater than what it actually cost.
